On the morning of July 13th, Tim Lankford was called into a disciplinary hearing by his employer, the Nashville Fire Department, of which Fire Commander Tim Anderson, Assistant Chief Walter Demonbreun, Jr. and Assistant Chief Lenny Manning were all present. He was there to answer charges brought against him by the department and the Civil Service Commission, after our investigation of his social media posts.
According to information obtained by The Tennessean, Lankford stated “If I had a clearer mind I wouldn’t be sitting here,” he said. “(When) I said I couldn’t function at my job it wasn’t because of anything the Supreme Court did it was because I had lost my wife of about 30 years…I don’t have any prejudice against anybody.”
Just so we’re clear, Tim Lankord said “(When) I said I couldn’t function at my job it wasn’t because of anything the Supreme Court did it was because I had lost my wife of about 30 years…I don’t have any prejudice against anybody.”
In most situations, maybe there could be some disagreement about what he said, or how he meantT it, or that it wasn’t about LGBT people, or anything the Supreme Court did – but in this case – WE SAVED THE SCREENSHOTS. His EXACT WORDS were:
“I am so disturbed about the Supreme Court ruling today that I can barely even function at my job. What has this country become…”
We’re not sure what world Tim Lankford lives in, but in this world that post is clearly about being upset with the Supreme Court’s ruling, and nothing to do with losing his wife he 4 months prior. Here’s the actual words on the screen, to help make it clearer.
Notice that Lankford even says that “if the Rapture happens tomorrow no one can be surprised” – yet claims “I don’t have any prejudice against anybody”, according to The Tennessean.
If you know any bigots, their first response when confronted is “I’m not (racist/homophobic/etc..), I’ve got several friends that are (black/gay/etc…)”
Lankford was no exception to this rule during the hearing. Lankford stated:
“I don’t even know why I said that stuff because I don’t believe it. I’ve got several friends on this depart who are gay or lesbian”
There is one way to describe what Lankford told to the members on Wednesday – HE LIED. The proof is in the screenshots, and the transcripts. There is no interpretation, no justification, no opinions – it is all right there in black and white.
Now, the real question is, what punishment will the board issue to Lankford? This was just one example of many posts we uncovered by Lankford.
Also, remember how Tim Lankford was ‘sick’ and had to take considerable time off immediately after his posts were made public? We’re not sure of the dates he was out, or when he returned, but one thing is for sure – he sure looks to be feeling better in this photo uploaded on July 3rd.
