James T. Crenshaw: Cop Car Pisser, History of Dismissed Charges. Friend to the DA?

Local purported graffiti artist and ‘scene kidJames T. Crenshaw, a former nightlife DJ recently bragged about being pulled over by the police, and getting accused of being in a particular gang. He even went as far to joke around where some members saw his post online, and began to ask around about his history. One of those individuals contacted EastNashville.News, with just one question – with all the charges on his sheet, just exactly did he get so many of them dismissed or escape with a few hours time served, even on repeat charges?

The tipster believed it possible that someone in this situation could possibly be working with the MNPD or DA’s office in order to get out of so many charges over the years – if it were a gang member from the east side, they would have certainly been behind bars multiple times, and unbelievably, James Crenshaw has yet to do ANY time, other than a few hours while being processed, or waiting to be seen in court. In fact, out of 17 charges, 8 were found guilty, with the other 9 being dismissed, either outright, or in conjunction with a plea deal with the DA’s office. Also, with $958.29 in outstanding fines and costs owed to the courts currently, it’s unsure how, or if, Crenshaw currently posses a valid license. Here’s a list of his charges and outcomes – we do find it odd just how many were dismissed, and even when found guilty, Crenshaw does no time, and usually no probation. he’s just let to walk out the front door of the courthouse. We can all agree that most defendants do not get this privilege without giving something in return. The question remains – what, if anything, is James T. Crenshaw giving in return?

Going through some of the court records we found some real gems of good reads, we wanted to share with this wanna-be gang member, and attempted bad ass who likes to run from the cop, but to his own home (really? what bad ass drives his car home during a high speed chase?) Enjoy these antics from the public records as much as we did, while we learn more about Crenshaw, and wonder how he’s staying out of jail and avoiding charges all together over the past decade.

James Crenshaw Urinates in Cop Care, while handcuffed behind his back. We assume this means he pissed his pants after the high speed chase:

“Def was placed under arrest, handcuffed in the rear, and placed in the back seat of a patrol car. While enroute to booking, def urinated all over the back seat of the patrol car. 2 floor mats were destroyed from def’s urine.”

James Crenshaw drives to his home during a high speed police chase:

“Def stopped on 2nd Ave N at Commerce St for not wearing his seat belt. Def told to pull over to the side of the road. Instead, def fled north bound on 2nd Ave N in his vehicle. The 2nd Ave area was full of pedestians and def had 1 female passenger in the vehicle with him. Def ran through two red lights on 2nd Ave N and reached speeds up to 70 mph. Once behind def, I had my blue lights and siren activated. Def turned off his lights when he was at 2nd Ave N and Jefferson St. Def was able to drive down an alley and park his vehicle in his back yard. Def was aware that police were pursuing him and he refused to stop”

Perhaps the backseat is a better place for James Crenshaw to be sitting?

Perhaps, now, he can pay off some of those costs and fees owed, above. While we can’t confirm that Crenshaw has received anything in return for the dismissed charges and reduced or null sentences, they are unusually disproportionate to others with similar charges in the same courts.
