We previously reported on Skipper Crook, who states he is a real estate agent for Keller Williams in Nashville. More details have now come to light about what caused his second DUI arrest in just a few weeks. Around Noon yesterday, Crook parked in a hospital parking lot near West End. He reportedly drank a pint of Vodka and then called 911 and told the dispatcher he was “driving while very drunk” and they should send an ambulance to take him to Vanderbilt to check into rehab. When located by MNPD, he was in the driver’s seat of his gray Toyota Camry, and told the officers he had hidden the keys from him, so he could not charge him with drunk driving. He told the officer had had drank a pint of vodka, and the officer located an empty pint in the car, along with the keys in the floorboard.

He initially agreed to a breath test, but he evoked his right for an attorney and refused further cooperation with the process of determining the amount of alcohol in his breath or blood. He then went back-and-forth, saying that he would do the breath and blood tests and then refused to do them. He never settled on what he stated he wanted to do. The defendant has a prior DUI charge still pending for which the defendant was admitted to bail.

He had damage to his car, likely from the previous DUI accident a few weeks ago. Crook is currently being held on a $10,000 bond and has a review hearing scheduled for 9:45 AM today.

Here’s the full affadavit, for which he was charged with “DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AN INTOXICANT T.C.A. 55-10-401” :

On 08/09/2017 at about 1200 hours the defendant, Skipper B. Crook called dispatch from a parking lot of a children’s hospital near State Street and 22nd Av. North. He told dispatch that he was driving while very drunk and that he was trying to get to Vanderbilt to check into a rehab center. He wanted them to send him an ambulance to take him to a rehab center. He said that he had no other medical issues.

When I found him, he was in his gray, Toyota, Camry, in the driver’s seat. He was in a parking lot across the alley from 2216 State Street. He told me that he had driven there drunk and that he had hidden the keys from me so that I could not arrest him. He braced himself against the vehicle and staggered while exiting. He smelled of beverage alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. He was unsteady on his feet. He had damage to the front, left side of the car. He said that he had drunk a pint of vodka when he was sitting in the parking lot. The car keys were located in the floorboard. There was an empty pint of vodka in the car.

He was given Miranda rights and I read him the Implied Consent law.
