Can (Former) Gold Rush Bartender Jessie Johnson Stop Assaulting People?

This weekend finds Gold Rush bartender Jessie Johnson (Jesse Johnson on social media) behind bars, once again, on a domestic violence 12-hour hold; this time for violating an order of protection / restraining order violation.You might consider this is some normal run-of-the-mill charge that happens every day, but what if you knew that he has randomly went off on total strangers and attacked them? Pretended to stop and help a lady with a flat tire, and assaulted and robbed her downtown with a tire iron? Held a 4-inch knife to a woman’s throat as the threatened to kill her? Came at a neighbor with a shovel over a grill? What if you knew he attacked and assaulted a cab driver when he was told to get out because he couldn’t pay the fare? What if he attacked a 74 year old man in bad health causing a fractured hip and several broken ribs? All of these are charges levied against Jessie Johnson, who also performs as a DJ in Nashville under the name Kataclysmik.

UPDATE 08/21 0930AM. Johnson is no longer employed by Gold Rush in Nashville. Headline updated accordingly. 

Johnson, 32, will have a $5,000 bond once the Domestic Violence Hold expires. He is currently scheduled for a review hearing on 08/23 if bond isn’t met.

Here’s a small sampling of some of the affidavits describing his previous assaults and arrests:

Assault, Aggravated – Strangulation – Int/Kn 39-13-102(a)(1)(A)*14 / WARRANT NUMBER: GS789778

The victim and the suspect were sitting in the victim’s vehicle. The suspect became angry and struck the victim in the jaw. When the victim started to cry, the suspect placed a knife (4 inch lock blade) to the victim’s neck and told her to shut up. He then stated that he was going to kill her. She attempted to call her mother but the subject grabbed her phone and threw it to the back of the car. The suspect then began to strangle the victim. She stated that it felt like he was crushing her throat and she could not breath. She said she thought he was going to kill her. The suspect stopped strangling her and opened the vehicle’s door and pushed her out. She began screaming and attempted to get away. The suspect chased her and tackled her injuring her knee. Her screaming got the attention of witness, Donald Barnes. He yelled at the suspect and the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. A 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser tntag # [REDACTED].

Assault, Aggravated – Deadly Weapon – Int/Kn 39-13-102(a)(1)(A)*10 / WARRANT NUMBER: GS731820

THE DEFENDANT CONFRONTED THE VICTIM CONCERNING A GRILL. THE VICTIM STATED THAT THE DEFENDANT HAD STATED THAT HE WAS GOING TO TAKE HIS GRILL. THE VICTIM STATED THAT HE INFORMED THE DEFENDANT THAT HE WAS GOING TO KEEP THE GRILL. THE VICTIM STATED THAT THE DEFENDANT THEN LEFT AND WENT BACK TO HIS APARTMENT TO GET A SHOVEL. THE VICTIM STATED THAT THE DEFENDANT RETURNED WITH THE SHOVEL AND APPROACHED THE VICTIM WITH THE SHOVEL IN AN AGGRESSIVE MANNER. THE VICTIM STATED THAT HE THEN CONFRONTED THE DEFENDANT AND TOLD HIM TO PUT THE SHOVEL DOWN. THE VICTIM STATED THAT THE DEFENDANT THEN PUT THE SHOVEL DOWN AND THE VICTIM STATED THAT HE HAD TAKEN A STEPS TOWARDS THE DFENDANT. THE VICTIM STATED THAT THE DEFENDANT THEN PICKED THE SHOVEL UP AND TOLD THE VICTIM, “DON’T LEAVE YOUR HOUSE OR I’M GONNA FUCK YOU UP”. THE VICTIM THEN STATED THAT THE DEFENDANT THEN WALKED AWAY. THE VICTIM STATED THAT HE FELT THREATENED.

ASSAULT T.C.A. 39-13-101 WARRANT NUMBER: GS652764

The victim works as a cab driver and picked the defendant up on Broadway at 2nd Av N. The defendant asked to be taken to 1723 21st Av N but he only had $7. The victim told him he would drive him until the meter hit $7 and then he would have to get out. When the meter hit the limit, the victim pulled over in the area of Charlotte Av and 17th Av N. The defendant then demanded the victim take him the rest of the way home. The defendant refused to get out of the cab. The defendant then punched the victim in the right side of his neck and shoulder. The defendant then exited the passenger side of the cab and ran around to the driver door. The victim then pepper sprayed the defendant and used a baton in self-defense. The defendant ran away and the victim notified police. The victim positively identified the defendant as the assailant during a show up after police detention approximately 1 hour after the assault. The victim’s injuries consist of a sore neck and shoulder.

ROBBERY T.C.A. 39-13-401 WARRANT NUMBER: GS514014

[VICTIM] drove to the McDonalds located at 1201 Broadway where she hit the curb and caused the tire of her vehicle to go flat. A white Ford Explorer drove into the parking lot of the McDonalds. The occupants of the Ford Explorer were: 1) Joshua White – driver; 2) Jesse Johnson – passenger, and 3) Aaron Price – Passenger.

Jessie Johnson exited the Ford Explorer and assisted or gave the impression that he was going to assist the victim change her tire. [VICTIM] was sitting in her vehicle with her wallet in her hand preparing to pay her helpers for assisting her, when Jessie Johnson walked to her and smack her wallet out of her hand causing her money to fall on the ground. According to a witness , she witnessed Jessie Johnson throw the victim to the pavement, causing her money to fall on the ground. While saying, “Go on Bitch. Go on”, Jessie Johnson began to kicked the victim. [WITNESS] then began to plea with Jessie Johnson to stop and she informed him that she was calling the police. During this ordeal, Jessie Johnson threatened to hit the victim with a tire iron. [WITNESS] also witnessed Jessie Johnson pick up some of the victim’s money which he caused to fall on the ground.

According two other witnesses (Aaron Price and Joshua White), Jessie Johnson returned to the vehicle and told them that he had just [robbed a stripper.]

According to [VICTIM], she only salvaged $19.00 out of the $500 that was taken from her.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT (SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR WEAPON) T.C.A. 39-13-102 / WARRANT NUMBER: GS265019

I went to Baptist Hospital in Nashville Tennessee to inverview Mr. Jessie Johnson who had been stabbed. He stated that Mr. Edward Ray Cook had stabbed him one time in the left hand. He then went on to state that mr. Cook went into his house and that he then chased Mr. Cook down and assaulted him by throwing him to the ground and striking and kicking him several times. Mr. Cook is 74 years old and in bad health. He was transported to the VA hospital complaining of extreme pain in his right hip and was bleeding from over the right eye. X-rays showed that Mr. Cook had sufferd a fracture to the right hip joint as well as several broken ribs on the right side. Mr. Johnson admits that the danger from the stabbing had ended and that he attacked him in a state of anger.
