East Precinct detectives are continuing in their efforts to identify the two persons responsible for Thursday night’s targeted murder of 17-year-old Kennda Watkins in the Riverchase apartment complex on Joseph Avenue.
Officers responded to shots fired calls at 8:19 p.m. and found Watkins deceased in a parking lot. Detectives were told that two young black men, one wearing a white or light gray hoody, the other wearing a red and black hoody, came from the side of an apartment building and opened fire on Watkins. They then ran from the scene.
Watkins, who was last known to have lived on 23rd Avenue North, was arrested in May 2016 on aggravated robbery and vehicle theft charges. Detectives are working to gather information regarding his background and acquaintances since last year.
Anyone with information on the persons responsible for killing Kennda Watkins is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
