Nashville musician ‘Morgan Lee’ Barfuss was arrested just after 2AM Tuesday morning for domestic assault with bodily injuries, after he and a female took a ride-share back to his place from a bar, and he began to assault her in the car, and it continued once they got inside his Nashville home.
Morgan Lee Barfuss, who goes by the stage name of ‘Morgan Lee’ had been out drinking the previous night with a student from a local university. According to a police report, they both decided to take a ride-share back to Morgan’s home. While en route to his residence, he became physically abusive inside the vehicle, “pushing the female victim’s face against the glass” and “grabbing and hitting her body”.
Per the police report, once they arrived back at his place, Barfuss began to strike the female victim, he grabbed her and threw her around the room. When the victim told him to STOP, he punched her in the face. At the time of the police report, the victim had suffered several bruises on her arms and legs, and a black right eye.
Morgan Lee Barfuss came to Nashville with a dream and a love of music. He’s had moderate success, and built a loyal fan base with tens of thousands of active followers on social media.
The victim and defendant had been out drinking alcohol on 11/26/2017. They both had taken a ride share vehicle back to the defendants residence. While en route to the defendants residence, the defendant became physically abusive inside the vehicle by pushing the victims face against the glass and grabbing her and hitting her body. When they entered the defendants residence, the defendant became more physically abusive by striking the victim and grabbing her and throwing her around the room. The victim told the defendant to stop at which point the defendant punched the victim in the face. The victim has suffered several bruises on her arms and legs and has a black eye (right eye). All the victims injuries have been photographed and placed on the department “K” drive. The victim then left the residence. This all occurred in a 90 minute time frame.
We held this story for 24 hours, awaiting a response from Morgan Lee Barfuss, but he has yet to respond to requests. We did speak to friends of Barfuss, who described this as extremely ‘out of the ordinary’ and they were genuinely surprised, and in disbelief when we talked about the incident. Barfuss and the victim were friends on social media at the time of his arrest, however at the time of publication, they are no longer connected on social media, though they do have 6 mutual friends.
Barfuss was held for the mandatory 12-hour domestic violence hold, then released on a $2,000 bond via Free At Last Bonding, and will appear in court on 12/05 for an initial appearance.
Barfuss has one prior alcohol related arrest in Nashville, from May of this year, for public intoxication. Charges for this case were dismissed once he slept it off. Here’s the report from that arrest:
THE DEFENDANT WAS OBSERVED STUMBLING AROUND THE CENTER FIELD AREA INTO OTHER PEOPLE’S TENT AREA. OFFICERS WERE CALLED OVER TO THE SCENE. OFFICERS COULD IMMEDIATELY SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE COMING FROM HIS PERSON. HE HAD SLURRED SPEECH, BLOOD SHOT WATERY EYES, AND WAS UNSTEADY ON HIS FEET.
