Running A Stop Sign Leads To 1.4lbs of Marijuana Arrest: Ivory Nuby III

Ivory Nuby III, of Creighton Ave in East Nashville, was stopped late Friday night for running a stop sign. When officer Kinnaird approached the vehicle, there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside, and a blunt was visible on the console between the seats.

A probably cause search resulted in a small amount of marijuana in the compartment under the radio, and 1.4 pounds (635 grams) of marijuana inside a plastic shopping bag in the trunk of the vehicle. Upon a search of his person, additional marijuana was found in his jacket pocket, along with $355 in cash.

Nuby claimed ownership of all of the marijuana that was found, and was booked into the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department just after 10PM, and released just after 2AM on a $12,000 bond via A Around The Clock bonding. He faces driving on a revoked license and felony possession with intent, and will appear in court on 12/14.

I stopped the defendant for running a stop sign. Upon approach of the vehicle I smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed a burnt marijuana cigar in plain view on the console between the driver and passenger seat. A probable cause search revealed a small amount of marijuana in the compartment under the radio. Further search revealed a plastic shopping bag in the trunk containing two large bags of marijuana and a small amount was located in the defendant’s jacket pocket. Defendant also had $355.00 in US Currency on his person in denominations consistent with street level narcotic sales. Total weight of the marijuana was 635 grams (1.4 pounds). Defendant claimed ownership of the narcotics. Defendant was transported to Davidson County booking and charged with possession with intent of schedule VI.
