How late was your pizza? Early Sunday morning MNPD arrested a driver for Domino’s Pizza after receiving a complaint that his vehicle had been parked at a business running, and had not moved in several hours.

Officers found Cody Alan Boaz, 27, asleep in the still running vehicle when they arrived. Upon waking him up, he stated he had fallen asleep while on duty working for Dominos. When the driver’s door was opened, officers report a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a marijuana pipe with marijuana in it, in the drivers side door. While the officer went to run his information, Boaz hid the pipe in his sock, which would later be found at booking.

Once placed under arrest, and handcuffed, Boaz pulls away from the two officers, and runs while in cuffs, a quarter of a mile before he is apprehended again. A Search of the vehicle revealed:

  • 2 syringes
  • 2.5 grams marijuana
  • marijuana pipe (from defendant’s sock)

Boaz was charged with:

  • Possession / CasualĀ  Exchange
  • Drug Paraphanelia
  • Evading Arrest
  • Tampering w/ Evidence
  • Resisting Arrest

He was released on the pre-trial program and will appear in court on 01/09/18.

Court Affidavit:

On 12/10/2017 officers were dispatched to Murfreesboro Pk in regards to a vehicle that had been parked at that location for several hours running. When officers arrived, they found the defendant, Cody Boaz, asleep with the vehicle running. The defendant stated he had fallen asleep while on duty working for Dominos. When the vehicle door was opened, I smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. I noticed inside the driver side door was a marijuana pipe with marijuana inside of it. When I went to my patrol vehicle to run his driver_s license information, the marijuana pipe was gone. After the defendant was placed in handcuffs, the defendant pulled away from Officer A. Manning and me. The defendant ran about a quarter of a mile before officers apprehended him. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle due to the presence of the drug paraphernalia and the odor of marijuana, officers seized 2.5 grams marijuana, marijuana seeds, and two syringes. While at booking, I seized the marijuana pipe that I had seen in the vehicle door from the defendant_s left sock.
