Late Saturday evening, MNPD responded to a domestic assault call, and found that not only did James ‘Kevin’ Reynolds assault & strangle his 14 year old son, while making derogatory remarks about him, but he actually recorded it, and provided the video to the police.
The victim, Reynold’s 14 year old son, states that he and his father were in a verbal altercation, when his father grabbed him by the neck, causing him injury. He also reported that he was hit in the head, and that his father had also holding him against the wall by his neck, strangling him, during which time he began to lose consciousness, and things started to “get dark”, according to the son/victim.
Police found the victim to have multiple marks and cuts on his neck and head that were consistent with his complaint. When the father, James ‘Kevin’ Reynolds, was questioned, he stated he had videos of the incident, and volunteered to show them to investigating officers. Upon viewing the videos, officers clearly observed the verbal argument between the father and son, it then shows the victim(son) attempting to walk around the defendant to leave the situation, and the father blocks his path. The father pushes the victim(son) into multiple walls in an ‘unreasonable manner’. The video also shows the father holding the victim by the neck against the wall for at least 15 seconds, during which time the son reports he began to lose consciousness. The father then yells at the 14 year old son “If you break those blinds, I’ll break your head” while holding his neck and making multiple additional derogatory remarks at and about his son.
James ‘Kevin’ Reynolds was taken into custody and booked into jail just after 8PM last night, charged with felony aggravated assault – strangulation, and bonded out this morning, just before 7AM, via ‘Bail U Out’ on a $5,000 bond.
