When police arrived at the East Nashville Taco Bell, they found Ian Mathis passed out in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. When making contact, officers report and odor of alcohol, and suspected he was under the influence. Upon contact, Mathis did state that he had a Smith & Wesson 9 mm in the door, which was secured.
Mathis was given standard field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on each test he attempted. Mathis admitted to consuming two 16 oz beers, and agreed to a breath test, and blew a .11 when tested.
Mathis was charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence, and DUI. Due to this being his first criminal charges, he was released on the pre-trial program, and will appear in court on 02/22/2018.
