Kaleb Ringelstein found himself under arrest Tuesday afternoon, despite the fact that he was working with MNPD to identify and buy heroin from a dealer on their behalf. Not only did he buy the heroin for the cops, but he kept some for himself. It’s probably safe to say no one will ever sell this guy drugs again.
According to a MNPD affidavit, the defendant (Kaleb Ringelstein) was working with detectives to identify a narcotics dealer. Ringelstein conducted a controlled buy of heroin from the dealer. After the deal was complete, a detective observed the Ringelstein messing with the heroin and appeared to be taking some from the baggie.
At staging area the defendant turned over a baggie of heroin to detectives, but during a search of the informant / defendant’s vehicle, detectives recovered an additional 2.4 grams of heroin inside a candy box and in the sun roof area. The defendant admitted to stealing the 2.4 grams from the controlled buy.
Ringelstein was booked on possession and theft of property charges, and remains in custody on a $10,000 bond. He will appear in court on 03/15.
