Just before 2 AM on Sunday Morning, officers were patrolling the area of 37th & Tigerbelle, where a TSU Frat party was winding down. As some of the vehicles were leaving, officers noticed a maroon Chevy Malibu driven by Malijah Brown, with another male standing on the roof dancing while the car was being driven.
Officers shined a spotlight on the car in an attempt to get their attention, then approached the Malibu to warn the person dancing on top of the car of the danger. As officers approached the vehicle, it sped forward, and the man dancing on top was thrown to the ground.
Blue lights were activated to effect a stop on the Malibu driven by Brown, however he then put the vehicle in reverse and sped toward another person. As officers caught up with him, he put the vehicle in drive and sped toward a crowd of people walking, and cars parked in the street. He drove onto the sidewalk, around another vehicle, and was finally blocked in by traffic and another officer.
Upon search of vehicle there was found to be a Marijuana Grinder in the back seat, and a loaded Glock style handgun under the front seat. Upon arrest of suspect he kept refusing to put his hands behind his back, resisting arrest.
Malijah Brown is charged with:
- Reckless Endangerment
- Resisting Arrest
- Weapon Under Influence
His bond was set at $7,000 and he was released on the pre-trial program, and will appear in court on 04/19/18.
