South Precinct detectives a short time ago charged Shaun Harris, 20, with aggravated robbery for his role in carjacking a man’s vehicle at gunpoint Thursday night outside the victim’s apartment on Hickory Hollow Place.

The victim had just parked his burgundy 2015 Kia Optima when he was approached from behind by a gunman who demanded his belongings.  The victim complied.  The gunman then got into the front passenger seat of the Kia while the second suspect got into the driver’s seat.  The suspects drove off.

The Kia is equipped with a dash camera which recorded the suspects.  It was recovered Friday afternoon from an apartment complex at 501 Ben Allen Road.  Harris, of Flicker Drive, surrendered himself at the downtown MNPD Warrants Division this morning after news stations broadcast video from the car.

Harris is currently held on a $30,000 bond. A second arrest is pending further investigation. He has a prior felony aggravated burglary charge from 2016 that was deferred with no conviction, where he served 11/29 probation.
