UPDATE: We received an update from the Mayor of Bell Buckle, that Ian Ray has been terminated by the city, and is no longer a police officer for the city as of 8:30 PM 06/18/18.
Bell Buckle police officer Ian Ray has been arrested again for multiple charges, including domestic assault, vandalism, and interference with a 911 call. This is the 2nd time he has been arrested for similar charges in under a month. He was placed on leave during the first arrest in May, but the case was dismissed by the state just last week, despite 5 independent witnesses confirming Ray was the aggressor and seeing the incident. He is one of only two officers employed by the Bell Buckle department.
Last month, the arrest documents indicate the part-time officer was wearing his police uniform at the time and witnesses reported Ray was seen putting his hands on his girlfriend during the altercation in a black four-door vehicle. According to the affidavit, multiple witnesses saw Ray grab his girlfriend by the hair or the clothes, pulling her off her feet and into the car.
In last night’s arrest’s, MNPD responded to a domestic assault at the officer’s home, where he was yelling at the victim (his girlfriend), and she was in fear of him. She had her phone in her hand, and told him she was going to call 911 if he did not stop. In response, he grabbed the phone out of her hands, and threw it against the wall, damaging the phone, and preventing her from calling for help.
Ray was charged with domestic assault, vandalism, and interference with a 911 call. He posted a $3500 bond via Free-At-Last and is scheduled to appear in court on 06/25/18. The city of Bell Buckle had not yet opened for business to provide a comment on if he would be re-suspended for the new charge. We will update when they respond.
