Hendersonville police officer Derick C Brewer was observed by the MNPD just after 5 AM on Thursday speeding. A traffic stop was conducted, and Brewer stumbled out of the vehicle, per the affidavit. He was transported to the parking lot of Cornerstone church to perform standard field sobriety tests.

Officers report that due to his performance on the SFSTs, the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath, his blood shot & water eyes, and the admission that he consumed 5 Jameson & Red-bull drinks, he was taken into custody for DUI. Brewer complied with the request for a breath test, and he blew a 0.103 & a 0.108.

In addition to the DUI Charge, Derick Brewer was charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence, as he had his Glock handgun in the vehicle with him. He was booked into custody and given pre-trial-release. He will appear in court on 07/13/2018.
