MNPD was dispatched to The Inn at Opryland Hotel early Wednesday morning on a drug complaint. Officers arrived and spoke with hotel security who had two young male subjects detained inside their hotel room.

Initially, hotel security responded to room 1104 due to the smell of marijuana was coming from the room. Security states the occupants allowed them to enter the room and consented to a search, where they retrieved 123.7 grams of marijuana (just over a quarter pound) and $26,632.01 in cash.

Occupants were identified as Madison K Wright, 18, and Desmond Donnell Jones, 23. Neither defendant claimed ownership of the money or the marijuana, so both were charged. During the search of Wright, a (stolen) loaded 9 mm handgun was found in his right pocket, and a bottle of codeine was in his left pocket.

Desmond Jones is currently a convicted felon on probation, who is additionally out on bond from a May 2018 10-count Grand Jury indictment for drugs, weapons, evading, and other related charges. Bond on his new charge is $10,000, which he posted via Bail U Out, almost immediately after arrest, his total time in custody was around 4 hours, including booking, processing & screening.

Madison Wright had 2 prior citations for possession, both of which were dismissed in 2017.  In addition to the possession charge that both received, Wright was also charged with possession of a weapon in the commission of a felony, theft, paraphernalia, and a possession charge for the codeine. Madison was released on the pre-trial release program in just over 3 hours processing time. Both parties have court dates on 07/06/18.
