The three teens who arrived at Opry Mills Mall today in a carjacked 2010 BMW 335i sedan have each been charged at juvenile detention with a number of offenses and are under investigation for potential other crimes by detectives from several precincts across the city.

Hermitage Precinct officers located the three teens, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old, in the food court area of the mall where they were charging their phones. Upon seeing the officers, they attempted to flee, but were quickly apprehended. One 16-year-old was carrying a nine millimeter pistol with an extended magazine. He is charged with unlawful gun possession, auto theft, and resisting a police stop. The other 16-year-old is charged with marijuana possession, auto theft and resisting a police stop. The 15-year-old is charged with auto theft, resisting a police stop and giving the officers a false name.

The BMW was taken at gunpoint Saturday morning from a gas station at 766 Douglas Avenue. The 34-year-old owner said he was talking with two young men about selling the car. He said the two initially walked away before one of them returned with a pistol and took the vehicle.
