Accused murderer Deion Woodruff is on the run. He is now suspected of being a major player in this afternoon’s exchange of gunfire between two vehicles on Bell Road near the Global Mall.

Thursday afternoon, the occupants of two SUVs, a Jeep and a Ford Expedition, exchanged gunfire with each other on Bell Road as the vehicles rammed each other. The last of the gunfire occurred at the intersection of Bell Road and Eagle View Boulevard.  Woodruff and Lesean Campbell, 20, fled from the Jeep and are believed to have been among those who carjacked a Chevrolet Malibu from a nearby convenience market.  Campbell, who was wounded, was driven to East Nashville where his colleagues dumped him out at East Community Center. A citizen then drove Campbell to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

The Expedition wound up at a nearby apartment complex. David Young, 22, was wounded while in the Expedition and called a relative to take him to the hospital.  Young is in serious but stable condition.  The other occupants in the Jeep and Expedition have not yet been identified.  Today’s gunfire is believed to be connected to the May 1st murder.

Deion Woodruff, 23, is suspected of shooting and killing Marqondis Thompson, 21, on May 1st inside the Medusa Hookah Bar.  An arrest warrant charging Woodruff with criminal homicide was issued last month and officers have been looking for him since.
