John Holman, Jr. drove into Cumberland River after allegedly killing girlfriend

North Precinct detectives have sworn out an arrest warrant charging John E. Holman Jr. with criminal homicide for the apparent beating death of his girlfriend inside her 21st Avenue North residence. Holman, 51, is in custody in Clarksville. The victim, Donna Adams, 46, was found deceased by officers who forced entry into her home shortly before 7 a.m.

Nashville’s Emergency Communications Center received a call from Clarksville Police at 6:40 a.m. concerning Holman, who was in their custody after running his vehicle into the Cumberland River. Clarksville Police reported Holman made admissions concerning the murder of Adams.

Holman was convicted of two counts of domestic assault in 2016 arising out of a dispute with Adams and their adult son. The investigation into the murder is ongoing.
