Kendale Dwaun Jones was arrested early Saturday morning, as he tried to carry a gun into Club Premium, located at 833 Murfreesboro Pike.

Police say that he was armed with a SCCY CPX-2 handgun, blue grip with a silver slide. Kylan King, who was working as a security guard at the club, was able to disarm Jones and detain him until police arrived.

Jones was read miranda and agreed to speak to police about the incident. After admitting that he had been drinking alcohol before the interaction, he also stated that the gun belongs to him, and he bought it several years ago from “someone on the streets”. He also told police that he carries for protection because “the streets are dangerous”

Kendale Jones is charged with illegal weapon possession, possession of a weapon while under the influence, and with an outstanding warrant for a revoked license. He was freed on the pre-trial-release program.

Jones does not have a valid handgun carry permit, and he has a 2016 guilty plea for a weapons possession charge, for which he served 10 days in jail, and attended a Violence Interrupted class. During that incident, he was outside waving a handgun around, and when police asked him to show his hands in the air, a handgun dropped to the ground from his sweatpants leg- it was a black Taurus with 11 bullets in the magazine, and 1 in the chamber.
