Man to MNPD SWAT: “I’m good at killing cops on Grand Theft Auto.” #Arrested

Forrest Broderick, 35, is charged with domestic assault and two counts of felony reckless endangerment this morming, with a $23,000 bond. He was the suspect in a domestic violence incident hat barricaded himself inside his Hickoryview Drive apartment overnight, before surrendering to SWAT officers just before 4 AM Monday morning.

An AK-47 rifle and more than 100 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from the apartment.

Midtown Hills Precinct officers responded to a call from Broderick’s ex-girlfriend at her Burgundy Hill Road home at 7:30 PM Sunday. She reported that while with Broderick Thursday night, he pinched her arms repeatedly, despite her telling him to stop, leaving bruises. She also reported that he bit her on the leg. Due to the visible bruising, officers went downtown to swear out a domestic assault warrant against Broderick.

While obtaining the warrant, Broderick is alleged to have returned to the Burgundy Hill Road address at 9 PM. He is said to have beat on the door demanding that his ex-girlfriend let him in. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot before Broderick finally left.

Two additional warrants charging felony reckless endangerment were then obtained. Officers went to Broderick’s Hickoryview Drive apartment to arrest him. He refused to come out and made varying threats, such as, “I’m good at killing cops on Grand Theft Auto.” Apartments close to Broderick’s were evacuated and MNPD SWAT officers and negotiators responded. Broderick finally surrendered shortly after 4 a.m.

Broderick is also under investigation concerning a theft from a South Nashville Kroger store Sunday evening during which a store employee reported being threatened in the parking lot by a man with a rifle.
