A 22-year-old woman says she was asleep in her home at Granstaff Apartments Thursday morning, along with her two young children. At 8:53 AM, she called 911 to report a man had just broken into her apartment, found her sleeping, pulled the comforter off her, put his hand into her pajama pants and underwear, and started to pull her pants down when she awakened and screamed, causing him to run out of her apartment. The victim gave the description of a male black with dreads, wearing a red shirt, and gray pants.

Luck would have it that Officers had just arrived at the Granstaff Apartments to a separate call, not far from the victim’s apartment. The call was in regards to Andre Dewayne Lewis, 24, causing a domestic disturbance at his mother’s apartment. While speaking to Andre Lewis, officers would hear the above call dispatched across their radios, with the description  exactly matching Lewis, who was standing in front of them at this mother’s apartment.

Lewis was immediately secured and taken into custody, and charged with especially aggravated burglary. The victim made a positive identification just 17 minutes after her 911 call. A night court commissioner set his bond at $100,000, and he remains in jail this morning.

Last month, he plead guilty to an aggravated trespass charge at the same apartment complex, and in 2014 he plead his 1st Degree Murder charge down to Reckless Homicide, receiving a 4-year-sentence after shooting and killing Ronald Lee Sanders during a robbery on Sylvan St. He completed that sentence and was released in March of 2017. This is his 9th charge since release.
