South Precinct officers were called to the apartment complex at 5 a.m. after a resident reported hearing a loud bang and a man lying in the parking lot. Before being rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Crisp told officers that he was shot during a robbery. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

South Precinct detectives working the homicide are looking closely at an armed robbery at the same apartment complex last Sunday morning to determine whether the two crimes are connected. In last weekend’s case, a 54-year-old female resident was confronted by two young men with guns while sitting in her car. They pounded on her windows and demanded that she get out of the vehicle or they would kill her. She complied and the gunmen took her purse and threw her to the ground. Her debit card was used a short time later at a Kroger store on Murfreesboro Pike. The two persons who used it were recorded by the store’s surveillance system last Sunday morning.

Detectives are asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the two individuals on the surveillance photos from last weekend. Anyone recognizing them is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
