Sunday morning’s 5 AM shooting outside Club Premium on Murfreesboro Pike left one man dead, and another on the run until he was captured on Tuesday in Madison.

According to police, Deandre Lamont Sherrill was in the vehicle with his girlfriend, Adrianna Maupins, who the vehicle was also registered to. They were in the parking lot behind Club Premium, at 833 Murfreesboro Pike. Police found the victim, Dequinta Young, lying in the parking beside their vehicle, with what police called “evidence of a shooting contained inside”. Police immediately observed Young had at least one gunshot to the chest. He was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Multiple witnesses state that Young was unarmed, and approached the passenger side of the vehicle Maupins was driving, in response to one of their vehicles being blocked in, and unable to leave the location. Adrianna Maupins was interviewed by police, and stated she was in the driver’s seat, and Deandre Sherrill was in the passenger seat, and the two were dating.

Maupins told police she was aware that Sherrill had a black handgun, and that she saw him holding it just prior to the shooting. Maupins stated during her interview that shortly after Young approached the passenger side of her vehicle, where Sherrill was sitting, that the passenger side door opened, and she heard gunshots. She told police she was unsure who opened the door.

Deandre Lamont Sherrill, 26, was on the run until Tuesday, when he was taken into custody in a joint effort between the MNPD and the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force. He is held without bond on murder and probation violation charges.
