Kutonia Smith-Bond was driving Friday afternoon during rush hour, with her passenger, Dujuane Bond. They were on Jefferson Street, near 28th Ave, when she decided to use the middle lane as her lane of choice, to avoid the traffic, for what officers called ‘an extended period of time’.
An officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle, to find that Kutonia Smith-Bond’s license was revoked. She stepped out of the vehicle, and consented to a search of the Nissan Altima. When her passenger, Dejuane Bond, stepped out of the vehicle, he left a plastic bag containing 1 gram of cocaine in the seat. Under his seat was another 2 grams of white powder, which he admitted was cocaine.
While officers spoke with Kutonia Smith-Bond, they immediately notice “a large object in her pants”. A female officer was called to the scene, and retrieved three plastic bags of crack cocaine and a black scale. According to the report, “the total weight of cocaine stored in Mrs. Smith-Bond’s person weighed approximately 57.6 grams.” She claimed ownership of the drugs collected from her person.
Kutonia was charged with a class B felony for possession of cocaine w/intent to distribute, in addition to paraphernalia and a revoked license charge, and posted a $21,500 bond. Dujuane was charged with charged with possession w/intent, and posted a $25,000 bond.
