Metro Police responded to the Days Inn at 821 Murfreesboro Pike in the early hours of Sunday morning, in response to a call of a white male smashing & breaking the windows at the hotel while wearing brass knuckles.
Upon arrivals, officers found William Julius Sasser, 22, who matched the description of the suspect – 5’8″ tall, wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt, in front of one of the rooms in the back of the hotel. Police observed several cuts to his knuckles, and asked if he had any weapons on him, to which he stated he had brass knuckles. Officers located them in his back pocket, with blood on them, along with a half-empty flask of liquor.
According to a police report, Sasser smelled strongly of alcohol, had trouble standing on his own, and claimed to be a guest at the hotel, however he gave several room numbers when asked where he was staying, and motel management confirmed there was no room in his name.
William Sasser was charged with public intoxication and possession of a prohibited weapon, and freed on pre-trial release to his Ft. Campbell address.
