Officers responded to a call for service to America’s Best Value Inn off Harding Place on Monday. They knocked on the door of the room causing the disturbance, and Kevin Hunt, 36, opened the door, at which time officers got an overwhelming smell of marijuana emanating from the room.
The scene was frozen, and in plain view was marijuana, a brown powdery substance, and a digital scale. The bottom drawer of the night stand was already open, and Hunt told officers there was “ice” in the drawer, and it was confirmed to be methamphetamine.
Detectives from South Precinct’s CSU arrived and Hunt then signed a consent to search the room. After a full search, the following was found and seized:
- 30.9 grams methamphetamine
- 2 grams heroin
- 1.4 grams cocaine
- 12.9 grams marijuana
- 2 ecstasy pills
Kevin Hunt is charged with 2 counts of Poss.w/int.-Sch.II, 1 count of Poss.w/int.-Sch.I, 2 counts of simple possession, and 1 count of paraphernalia. He is free on a $6,750 bond.
