NASHVILLE, TN: Nashville Fire Department’s Medic 11 unit forced entry into a home to rescue a man held against his will, after detectives made contact with the impaired adult male through a bedroom window. The man told detectives he was locked in the small room, and had no way to escape the home. He also told detectives he was supposed to be on insulin, but his caretakers wouldn’t give it to him, and he needed to go to the hospital.

A five-month investigation that included both the MNPD Domestic Violence division and Tennessee Adult Protective Services concluded this week with the arrest of 45-year-old Colin W. Watts, of Nashville. Watts is charged with abuse/neglect of an impaired adult, and false imprisonment.

The investigation began when, on August 25, Officer Janelle Keslar was flagged down by a citizen out of concern for a man who also lived in a residence where she had also been staying, and provided the names of the people who were in charge of the property as husband and wife, Colin Watts & Giavonni Green. As a result of this, Officer Keslar decided to conduct a welfare check on the man, and had dispatch contact Giavonni Green to provide access to the property. Green told dispatch she had checked on the man earlier in the day and “he was fine”. Eventually Green’s husband, Colin Watts, arrived at the property to provide access for Officer Keslar to conduct a welfare check on the man. The officer noted that the man’s room was locked from the outside, and Colin Watts brought with him the key, and unlocked the room.

Upon entering the room, Officer Keslar reported she had to wake up the man, and noticed a strong smell of urine inside the room. The man told Keslar he was hungry and thirsty. It was determined the home had no running water, and a lack of food. Watts then took the man to the hospital to be checked out, however police indicate they believe after the man was released from the hospital, Colin Watts returned him to the home and locked him inside the small bedroom.

A report was sent to Tennessee Adult Protective Services, and forwarded to the domestic violence division, and on September 18th, a second welfare check was conducted, and that is when they made contact with the victim through the bedroom window, and determined he needed to be rescued from the situation via forced entry. He was taken to a local hospital, then was moved to an assisted living facility.

After reviewing financial records, investigators found out that Colin Watts’ wife, Giavonni Green, was taking the man’s Social Security check for his “care”. Green is listed as the sole owner of ‘Mahogany Senior Care, according to the report.

Colin Watts, 45, posted a $10,000 bond via Jenkins Bonding, and will appear in court in February. Authorities did not provide information on any pending charges for Giavonni Green, and would only say she was “not in custody at this time.”
