Nashville man indicted on child abuse & child neglect of 3-year-old child

Tony Preston Amaker, 27, was arraigned on Wednesday, after the Grand Jury handed up a two count indictment for charges of aggravated child abuse, and aggravated child neglect, of a 3-year-old child.

According to the indictment, the abuse and neglect occurred on March 8th, 2018. The Grand Jury found that Amaker knowingly treated a three-year-old child in a manner to inflict injury that resulted in serious bodily injury. The second count of the indictment charges that Amaker knowingly neglected the same three-year-old child in a way ti adversely affect the child’s welfare, also resulting in serious bodily injury.

More specific details were not available, as Grand Jury deliberations are secret, however doctors from both Centennial Medical Center and Vanderbilt appeared as witnesses before the Grand Jury. Amaker was arraigned on both charges, and posted a $50,000 bond. He will appear in court on February.
