Metro Police responded to a Twice Daily store on Friday morning, to find a man with his pants down around his ankles, his penis exposed, and his body pinned to the ground by store employees.
Employees of the Twice Daily, located at 8020 McCrory Lane, say 40-year-old Jonathan Christy came into the convenience store, assaulted them, and then urinated on the floor. Moments before, police say Christy had also hit a vehicle while traveling on I-40, then assaulted the juvenile female driver, before fleeing the scene.
MNPD Officer Albert Wilson, who was an Officer of the Month in 2019, then approached Christy, while store employees had him pinned to the floor of the Twice Daily store. As he attempted to place handcuffs on him, the officer notes Christy suddenly jerked his hands from his grasp, and struck him in the face with his fist. The officer was able to get handcuffs applied after ‘struggling for some time’, with the assistance of the store employees, and Christy was taken into custody.
Jonathan Christy, 40, is held in lieu of a $4,000 bond. His charges include assault of an officer – offensive contact, indecent exposure, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, failure to render aid, failure to file report, trespass, and leaving the scene of an accident.
