Juan Posada, 18, asked an Instagram acquaintance to take him to visit his sick grandmother on Monday. They met, and Posada and a co-defendant got into the vehicle. They were traveling in the Wedgewood-Houston part of town, near the intersection of Pillow Street & Hamilton Avenue, when Posada is alleged to have pulled a knife on the victim, ordering him out of the vehicle.

The victim exited the car, and an unidentified co-defendant exited the back seat and moved into the driver’s seat. Posada and his partner then fled the scene in the now stolen vehicle.

Later that day, the victim’s father was able to track the vehicle’s location to an address on Ezell Road, and contacted Metro Police, who responded and observed the stolen vehicle parked behind a wooden gate in the backyard of the residence. The resident told police his nephew, Juan Posada, had parked the vehicle at the location ‘for a friend’. Posada was taken into custody, charged with theft of vehicle, and carjacking/robbery. He is currently held in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
