Eric Ballard, 36, is charged with a felony robbery, during which he made the victim get on the ground and do push-ups before threatening to shoot him in the head.
The 23-year-old victim says Ballard came up to him at the intersection of Hampton St & West Trinity Lane, and attempted to rob him. During the robbery, the victim says that Ballard punched him several times, causing an injury to his bottom lip, and then made him do push-ups, telling him if he tried to pick up his bicycle to flee, Ballard would shoot him in the head.
The victim managed to escape and run across the street to the Waffle House on Trinity Lane to call police. As he was at the Waffle House, he observed Ballard grab his bicycle and flee with it. The victim described Ballard as a male black, no shirt, black and red ripped pants on a white Genesis brand bicycle.
Soon after the robbery, MNPD Officer Sara Lober observed a male matching the above description on Avondale Circle, and detained him. He was then identified by the victim as the robber. Eric Ballard is charged with robbery and simple possession, and is currently held in lieu of a $6,000 bond.
