4 people have been indicted by the Davidson County Grand Jury in the death of 17-year-old Mile Hunter, from Old Hickory. Police initially thought Miles fell from the running board of a moving truck in September of 2018, but later ruled it a homicide. Police say Hunter was on the truck’s running board as it was turning from the Walmart parking lot onto Andrew Jackson Blvd. He suffered from severe head injuries and died six days later.
On Friday, the Grand Jury’s true bill return was filed with the Criminal Court Clerk’s office, charging the following 4 men with the aggravated robbery and 1st degree murder of Miles Hunter. The four are charged with recklessly killing Miles Hunter while robbing him of marijuana.

Nearly six months of investigation into the September 2018 death of 17-year-old Miles Hunter led to Friday’s return of a sealed felony murder and aggravated robbery indictment against four young adults.
Gunnar Scragg, 20, of Bluefield Avenue, surrendered downtown for booking a short time ago. His bond was set by a Criminal Court judge at $100,000. Ethan Oakley, 20, of Winthrop Place in Old Hickory, surrendered this morning. Oakley posted a $100,000 bond and was released.
William Hemphill, 22, of Brandywine Pointe Boulevard, and Nicholas Allen Parker, 21, of W. Yorkshire Court in Old Hickory, surrendered on the indictment Saturday. They posted $30,000 bonds and were released.
Miles Hunter, of Old Hickory, was critically injured on the night of September 11, 2018 when he fell from the running board of a 2007 Dodge pickup truck containing the four defendants as it traveled out of the Hermitage Wal-Mart parking lot onto Andrew Jackson Parkway. He died six days later.
The investigation, led by Hermitage Precinct Detective Jason Cregan, concluded that Scragg coordinated with Oakley, Parker and Hemphill to rob Hunter in the parking lot. During the robbery, Oakley, behind the wheel of his pickup truck, sped off, causing Hunter to hang on as he stood on the running board. Scragg is alleged to have continuously punched Hunter to get him off the truck, causing him to fall to the ground and be run over by the truck. The four defendants fled the parking lot and made no effort to help Hunter or contact police.
