#DUI: Man charged with going 75+ in a 40 mph zone “on way to meet a girl” after leaving The 5 Spot

Sean K Andrews, 43, was at The 5 Spot Tuesday night, where he says he had three to four drinks, before leaving to meet a girl. Once he was on Gallatin Pike, officers observed him near Gallatin & McGavock traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers were able to get behind Andrews and pace him at 75 mph (in a 40 mph zone) as they initiated a traffic stop in front of the Kroger at 3410 Gallatin Pike.

Officers made contact with Andrews, who they describe as having red & watery eyes, and reaching all over his vehicle. while attempting to find his wallet. They say an odor of alcohol was coming from inside the vehicle, and they also noticed handgun in plain view, located in the dashboard, under the stereo.

Andrews exited the vehicle and told officers he had three to four drinks earlier in the evening at The 5 Spot, and was on his way to meet a girl – an appointment he would be unable to keep. He performed poorly on all three tasks he completed during the field sobriety tests, and was taken into custody for driving under the influence. Andrews blew a .111 BAC during the breath test.

Sean K Andrews, of Viestavia Hills, AL., was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and having a weapon while under the influence. He was freed on pre-trial release at 9:07 a.m. Wednesday morning, 3 hours after being booked.
