Metro Police arrested 27-year-old Jasmine Steele early Tuesday morning on several outstanding warrants, including domestic assault and vandalism, after she showed up to her ex-boyfriend’s place of employment, beat him, and smashed his iPhone XS Max.

Jasmine Steele and the victim had previously dated, and she had taken out an order of protection on the victim. On March 13th, the victim was working at a convenience store on E. Old Hickory Blvd., and saw Steele come onto the property, so he told her to leave, since there was an active order of protection in place. Jasmine told him she was there to return his identification card, which she was holding in her hand, for him to take it.

When the victim reached out to accept his identification card from Jasmine Steele, she kept her grip on the card, and struck the victim upside his head with her fist, punching him. Police say surveillance video showed Steele jumping on the victim’s back, and continuing to punch him with her fists. The victim was holding his iPhone XS Max at the time of the altercation, and Steele grabbed it out of his hand, smashing it on the ground, causing it to shatter and be destroyed.

Jasmine Steele was charged with domestic assault, assault, and two counts of vandalism. She is posted a $4,000 bond, and was released Tuesday mid-day, after the required 12-hour domestic violence hold.
