Daniel Hamilton, 24, remains in jail this afternoon on 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, after he reportedly told his mother “If you weren’t my mother I’d have killed you years ago”, briefly went outside, and returned to the home with a gun.

Metro Police responded to a home in East Nashville Wednesday, where a Mother and her 13-year-old daughter lived. According to the mother, her 24-year-old son had stopped by her residence to visit, and they got into a verbal argument, and he began cursing at her. The victim says Hamilton told her “If you were not my mother, I’d have killed you years ago”, then walked outside. She quickly locked the door behind him, and saw him pull a ‘large black handgun’ out, per the report. He attempted to re-enter the residence, so the victim and her young daughter locked themselves in the bathroom of the residence. When police arrived, they located Hamilton inside a vehicle on a nearby street.
