Mustafa Muhammad, 37, was arrested on Sunday for two outstanding warrants, each charging him with child abuse  of his 13-year-old son. During one of the incidents, Muhammed choked the son when he didn’t like what he put on a vision board.

Police say the first incident happened when police were called to the Dover Road address in South Nashville.  The father had instructed the 13-year-old son, along with his siblings, to make vision boards. After they were complete, the father did not like what the son put on his board, and told him to change it. The son refused, and the two reportedly argued, as witnessed by the mother and all other siblings. The father, Muhammad, reportedly grabbed the son out of a chair, drug him to a couch, threw him onto it, and placed his son in a choke hold, and hit him in the side of the head.

A few days prior to the above incident, Muhammed got upset because the same son quit playing a board game with his siblings, saying he didn’t want to play with one of them that was accused of cheating, so the father ordered them all to bed early. Reportedly, when the son came back out of the bedroom to help another sibling return the game to a shelf, Muhammed told him “that’s strike two”, to which the victim replied “strike two, got it.” Muhammed was upset by the remarks, and reportedly pushed the child up against a television stand, then threw his son to the ground, causing rug burns on his skin. Once they were both on the floor, he placed the victim in a choke hold, causing scratches to the victim’s neck. All the victim’s siblings and mother also witnessed this incident.

Metro Police charged Mustafa Muhammad with two counts of child abuse, and booked him into the Davidson County Jail Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. He posted a $2,000 bond and was released from custody just before 2 p.m.
