One teen is in custody, and 1 teen eluded capture, as Juvenile Crime Task Force officers Tuesday night arrested a 15-year-old as they recovered a 2017 Honda Pilot SUV (key left inside) stolen on March 8th from a Summit Oaks Court residence.
Just before 11 p.m. South Precinct officers spotted the stolen SUV on Donelson Pike near Knapp Boulevard. After briefly following the vehicle, South Precinct officers terminated the pursuit. A few minutes later, Juvenile Crime Task Force officers relocated the Honda traveling on I-24 West. It appeared the driver was unaware that officers were in sight. The driver eventually pulled over in an alley between 12th and 14th Avenues North. Both occupants fled on foot. The teen was taken into custody. The second suspect eluded capture.
Recovered during a search of the SUV were several sets of keys belonging to other vehicles, wallets, and an empty gun holster. Detectives believe these items were taken during other motor vehicle burglaries.
The 15-year-old is charged with reckless driving, evading arrest, and vehicle theft. In January, he was charged with vehicle theft and evading arrest. In that case, the teen admitted to taking a 2010 Mercedes SUV parked on Sunnymeade Drive. A spare set of keys had apparently been left in the vehicle.
