More than a year of investigation into the December 10, 2017 murder of 23-year-old Maxime Assem in the 100 block of University Court in the Napier-Sudekum public housing area has led to the indictment of two persons.
James Gilchrist, 26, of Chesapeake Circle, was booked late Monday night on charges of first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon.Gilchrist’s co-defendant, Montessa Tate-Thornton, 19, of 26th Avenue North, is facing charges of first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery. She has not yet been served with the indictment.
The investigation, led by Hermitage Precinct Detective Jeff Jobe, alleges that Tate-Thornton knew Assem and conspired with Gilchrist to rob him. Gilchrist is accused of firing the fatal shot. Gilchrist’s bond is set at $250,000.
