Lynsey Sutherland, 27, was arrested Wednesday, and charged with theft of merchandise, after allegedly stealing a hoverboard from a West Nashville Target, and giving it to her son for Christmas.

Police say that Sutherland’s ex-husband, Justin Petty, became suspicious when she gave their child an expensive hoverboard as a Christmas gift, and he said he knew she had stolen from Target in the past. He then contacted the store by phone, to tell loss prevention he might know someone who had stolen from their store. He later came in and was presented with a photo line-up from surveillance video, and instantly picked out the photo of his ex-wife, Lynsey Sutherland. The store had video of Sutherland selecting items from the store, and pushing them out of the store without paying for them. This particular incident resulted in a $391.00 loss to Target.
