Demontez Johnson, 19, wanted for the December 6, 2018 fatal shooting of Dontae Drew on Dickerson Pike near Briley Parkway, was apprehended in Fayetteville during the night and is now being held in the Metro Jail in lieu of $1 million bond on a charge of criminal homicide.
The investigation shows that Drew, 18, and two friends met two men, one of them alleged to have been Johnson, near the intersection of Dickerson Pike and Broadmoor Drive to buy marijuana. The buyers used fake money and quickly drove away. The sellers caught up to them in a pickup truck as Drew and friends approached Briley Parkway and opened fire into their Nissan Maxima. Drew, the driver, was hit and died.
Johnson was identified as one of the murder suspects and a murder warrant naming him was issued on December 18th. He had been a fugitive for the past four months.
