Douglas Alan Crews was taken into custody Sunday, March 31st – the day before his 48th birthday, for a warrant that’s been outstanding for 20 years. In July of 1999, Commissioner Houston Hagar signed a warrant for Crews’ arrest, charging him with a felony drug offense.
Metro Nashville Police say that on June 6th, 1999, Douglas A. Crews, then age 28, entered the Walgreen’s Pharmacy on Hillsboro Pike and passed a forged prescription for 60 Dexedrine tablets (a schedule II controlled stimulant often prescribed for ADHD).
Crews had provided his state issued driver’s license to the pharmacy for the prescription, to confirm his identity. The pharmacy technician confirmed was fraudulent, and not written by Dr. Newton Allen to Mr. Crews.
Douglas Crews was booked on the charge, and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court in May.
