A woman let an acquaintance, 32-year-old Joey Jordan, stay at her apartment briefly, and in return, he attacked and robbed her, for the $25 in her shoe.

Metro police were dispatched to Joseph Ave in Riverchase Apartments just before noon on Wednesday, to what was originally an aggravated assault call, but ended up as a robbery.

The female victim had been letting 32-year-old Joey Jordan stay with her for a short amount of time, and earlier the two had went to a nearby store, where Jordan observed her put $25 cash in her shoe for safe-keeping. Shortly after they returned to the apartment, she says Jordan lunged at her and grabbed her by the neck, and began to choke her, telling her “you’re going to die”.

He reportedly threw her onto the floor in her bedroom, and struck her in the face multiple times. He then pulled the shoe off her foot, where he had previously observed the $25 in cash being placed. He took the $25 in cash and she managed to escape out a window, where she saw a property maintenance worker, who contacted the office to call 911. Jordan fled the scene, but was identified via a photograph.

Jordan was apprehended just after 11 p.m. Wednesday, and booked into the Davidson County Jail, where he was charged with robbery, and currently remains, in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
