Metro Police responded to multiple reports of a car that crashed into a pole around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning, near Cherokee Rd. / Aberdeen Rd. and continued driving. The driver, Bryce Buyna, says he didn’t drink, but had smoke marijuana earlier.
According to police, 21-year-old Bryce Buyna was located and detained for a traffic violation as he continued to drive away from the scene. He showed multiple indicators of impairment, but stated he had only smoked some marijuana earlier, and denied any alcohol use. Police say he had difficulty forming coherent sentences and appeared to fall asleep during field sobriety testing.
Buyna refused a breath test, and was arrested for DUI, violation of the implied consent law, and drug possession, as three Xanax pills were located in an inventory of the vehicle, for towing purposes. Buyna was booked, and then freed on pre-trial release.
