In addition to Temple, Cheatham County Deputy Doug Fox, and Ashland City Police Officer Paul Garrett were under investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department. All three were off-duty and in Nashville on December 26, 2018, when the assault happened and all were fired in late February of 2019 when it became apparent the trio had initially lied about the incident in an attempt to cover it up. Due to the sealed nature of Grandy Jury indictments, it is not yet known if they also have charges pending against them. Here’s what we were able to gather in February when we first broke the incident:

FEBRUARY 2019: MNPD does not routinely release documents from active investigations, however, a source within the department familiar with the matter tells Scoop: Nashville the three officers were enjoying off-duty at Top Golf in Nashville when they encountered an intoxicated man in the restroom, who they were then involved in a fight with. At least two of the individuals allegedly assaulted the intoxicated man. During an interview with Metro Nashville Police about the incident, they are said to have been non-truthful in their statement(s), and in an effort to conceal what actually happened. The trio reportedly ran up a hefty bar tab before the altercation.
