34-year-old Dontae White was arrested Thursday, charged with felony possession of heroin. When police stopped him, his phone was continuously receiving texts asking if he was “still good for it” from someone who had “driven all the way from Hendersonville” to meet him.

Metro Nashville Police observed an individual approach a maroon Chrysler 300 on Thursday afternoon, and conduct what they believed to be a hand to hand drug transaction just outside an apartment complex on Hillside Avenue. Police followed the Chrysler and conducted a traffic stop when he did not turn into the innermost lane on 2nd Ave South, from Chestnut Street.

A probable cause search was conducted due to the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and located in the center area of the front seat was a folded paper receipt with a tan powder identified as heroin. $944 in cash was also seized, as police found it to be proceeds from narcotics sales. During the interaction, text messages kept incoming to White’s phone, displaying on the lock screen in plain view, including ones asking “still good for it?” and another stating the sender had driven all the way from Hendersonville to meet him. White has an extensive history or narcotic sales related arrests. White is free on a $15,000 bond.
