Metro Police say that after coming to his ex-girlfriend’s home multiple times on several consecutive days, knocking on her door for up to an hour at a time, Patrick Diener eventually caught her coming outside, attacked her with a gardening shovel, held her by her hair, and smashed her head into a vehicle.
Metro Nashville Police say the couple had dated for approximately 8 months, but were no longer together, due to Diener’s violent behavior. On approximately 5 separate incidents over a three day period, Diener showed up at the victim’s home and knocked on her door for an extended period of time, sometimes up to an hour.
One of those occasions was on May 17th, when after an hour of not answering, the knocking stopped. the victim waited for 3 more hours before leaving her home, and when she exited to go to her vehicle, Diener appeared, suddenly speeding toward her in his vehicle. He got out, walked up to her, and struck her on the right arm with a gardening shovel. Per an arrest warrant, he then slammed her head into her parked vehicle, and grabbed her by the hair to prevent her from escaping. Eventually, she broke free, but she had sustained multiple injuries from the attack, all of which were documented.
Warrants were issued for the arrest of Diener, charging him with two counts of stalking, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was arrested on Friday, and is free on a $20,000 bond.
UPDATE: Diener appeared in court on July 10th, and all charges were dismissed, as the victim failed to cooperate in the prosecution of the case.
