After Dallas Cook’s fingerprints came back as a match to an open burglary case, MNPD officers attempted to serve him with the warrant on Monday. He briefly evaded them at his back door, and once they caught up with him, police say he fought with them, even after he was taken to the ground.

Metro Police went to Cook’s home on Trice Drive in the Nations of West Nashville just after 4:30 p.m. Monday to serve the felony burglary warrant alleging he entered a neighbor’s home by breaking a window and took laptops, an Amazon Alexa, and other electronics. Officers McCarron and Hoesli made contact with Dallas Cook at his back door and informed him of the warrant, at which time Cook simply ran outside, evading bother officers at the door.

A short time later, officers caught up with Cook and took him to the ground, according to an arrest warrant. Officers say that while Cook was on the ground he continued to wing his arms and struck Officer Hoseli in the forehead. The report states Cook refused to give up his hands despite several verbal “STOP RESISTING!” commands. Eventually, he was taken custody and taken to West Precinct for an interview, after refusing medical treatment.

In addition to the felony aggravated burglary charge, Cook now faces additional charges of resisting arrest and assault of an officer. He is current jail at the Metro Jail in lieu of a $7,500 bond.
