Over the years, Josh Hoge has found himself working with the Backstreet Boys, touring with Miranda Lambert, even being named SESAC’s songwriter of the year in 2016 for hits penned for Chris Young. On Monday he found himself in the back of a police car, charged with DUI.

Metro Nashville Police responded to a crash on Edmondson Pike late Monday evening, in which Josh Hoge had rear-ended a vehicle near Wexford Downs Lane. While conducting an interview with Hoge, police noted the smell of alcohol coming from his person and wrote he was unsteady on his feet with red, watery eyes.

Hoge originally told an officer he was coming from Music Row, but told another officer later that he was coming from The Corner Pub. Hoge agreed to perform field sobriety tests, however, police stopped them due to safety concerns after they say Hoge was unable to keep his balance.

According to an arrest warrant, Hoge told officers he takes prescribed Xanax, and had drunk two White Claw alcoholic beverages several hours earlier in the day. He was placed under arrest for Driving under the influence, booked into the Metro Jail, and posted a $1,500 bond and released 45 minutes after his booking was finalized.
