20-year-old found with loaded gun & ski mask while high/asleep in car at Mapco

Metro Police found Deandre Conway, 20, asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked taking up two spaces and under the influence of marijuana, at the Mapco on Gallatin Pike in Madison. On his passenger seat was a handgun hidden under a jacket and ski mask.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Mapco at 1516 Gallatin Pike South on August 27th. Once Metro Police responded, they located a black Chevrolet Impala parked incorrectly, taking up two parking spaced. Inside the car, they located 20-year-old Deandre M. Conway asleep in the driver’s seat. While the vehicle was ‘on’, it was later determined it was not drivable due to par of the key being broken into the ignition. Conway was slow to respond to officers who were banging on his window in an attempt to wake up. Eventually he woke up, and they say he was sluggish and it took him an abnormal amount of time to roll down his window . Once he did, officers report an obvious odor of marijuana rolling from inside the vehicle.

A search was consented to, and officers found a 1000 mg container (.04 oz) container of cannabis oil. In the passenger seat was a handgun with a loaded magazine beneath a jacket and ski mask. Deandre Conway was charged with drug possession, public intoxication, and possession of a handgun while under the influence. He is free on a $5,500 bond.
